Lambda Chapter

In the summer of 2007, Kappa Upsilon Chi was brought to UCF under the guidance of the Lord. Active members from Delta Chapter, Theta Chapter, Kappa Chapter and alumni from Alpha Chapter, Gamma Chapter, Delta Chapter and National Board Members initiated the charter members of the Lambda Chapter. Although we as a national fraternity do not officially have any sister sororities, we as Lambda chapter partner with Theta Alpha and Sigma Phi Lambda throughout the semester for different events, socials, and community service projects. This chapter has drafted its constitution, submitted it for approval, and is currently in pending status with the university. It is anticipated that this chapter will become an official organization by fall of 2010. Visit the “brothers” page to see the Alpha class, also known as the founding fathers of our chapter.

How is it possible to be a Christian “fraternity”?

A fraternity by definition is a group of men chosen in their early days of study by a democratic process who have the same morals, beliefs, and values. It is also a body of people joined by similar backgrounds, occupations, interests, or tastes. Just by reading this you will see that the idea of the typical fraternity does not in fact define a fraternity at all. We as Lambda Chapter of KYX are a group of Christian men coming together for one common goal. That is to spread the Word of God to all corners of the earth and we start right here at UCF. Some fraternities around campus might argue that because we are not part of the IFC (Interfraternity Council) we are not a REAL fraternity. We chose not to become part of this organization due to rules and restrictions placed on our fraternity that would make our goal of reaching people for Christ nearly impossible. The IFC doesn’t define a social fraternity, and therfore we are just as real of a fraternity as the rest of them. The key difference that you might find is that we do not have alcohol realated events but rather socials built on the foundation of making relationships and building each other up. National KYX

Kappa Upsilon Chi (KYX) a national fraternity for Christian men founded in 1993 on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in response to the demand for a Christian brotherhood on campus. Four men with a vision for something greater sought to create a place where Christian ideals truly met collegiate tradition. Like most traditional collegiate fraternities we are bound by friendship, honor, and common interests. However, we are first and foremost bound by the love of Jesus Christ, God’s son, our Savior.

The movement from a local fraternity to a national fraternity began in the fall of 1995 when 12 men established a Beta Chapter of Kappa Upsilon Chi at Wayland Baptist University. From there, the Fraternity has steadily grown as the concept has been publicized. The fraternity now stretches across five states with fourteen chapters. As of now, approximately 1,500 men have been initiated into the fraternity with the number rising each year as new chapters are established and the existing chapters grow.

The Greek letters of Kappa Upsilon Chi represent the organization’s primary name, “Keeping Under Christ” – which in itself is a philosophy on which this organization was founded and on which it thrives today.

Our Mission

KYX exists for several reasons. Our greatest desire is to glorify our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We also seek to uphold and maintain Biblical Christian standards, to be an influence in the community through servant lifestyles, to pursue a positive attitude and spirit, and to help others strengthen their academic achievement, enabling them to be what the Lord calls them to be. We do this by submitting to the Lord, our God, and allowing Him to direct our lives as Psalm 139:23-24 states, “Search me, O God, and know my heart, test me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” We seek solely to do the will of God.
